At SynergyMD Plastic Surgery in Tampa, Dr. Brown will customize your treatment plan to deliver a sculpted appearance that shows off your body and the effort you have put into it. Dr. Brown can perform one of three techniques for your arm lift, depending on the amount of excess tissue you have:
1. Mini Arm Lift
If you have minimal excess skin in the upper arms, Dr. Brown can use a mini arm lift to remove it. This technique requires a shorter incision and the resulting scar will be well hidden on the inside of the upper arm.
2. Upper Arm Lift
If you have a considerable amount of excess skin, a slightly longer incision will be needed to address it. The incision will be placed along the back or inside of the arm. However, patients who have experienced significant weight loss may need an extended incision from the arm onto the chest wall.
3. Combination Arm Lift
Depending on your skin and tissue quality, liposuction may be performed alone or in addition to removing skin. Combining the two can allow you to achieve the best possible contour during your arm lift procedure.

Recovering After an Arm Lift
The arm lift recovery typically takes about two to three weeks. Dr. Brown will provide you with detailed instructions to make the most of your recovery. Some general guidelines include:
Expect Side Effects
Some swelling, bruising, and redness are completely natural and part of the healing process. Redness and bruising should fade within a few weeks, but swelling may take several months to subside.
Wear a Compression Garment
Patients wear a compression garment for about three weeks to encourage healing and minimize swelling. It will also help your skin form to your new contours. Dr. Brown may also place a drain to manage any bleeding.
Get Plenty of Rest
Get plenty of rest and keep your arms elevated while you sleep to promote healing. Excess activity can slow the healing process, so our plastic surgeon recommends patients take off work and avoid strenuous exercise for two to three weeks. Light exercise is okay.
Minimize Scarring
Dr. Brown will make Incisions on the back or inside of the arm in natural contours to minimize the appearance of arm lift scars, but you can also help fade them by using a scar cream and protecting your incisions from the sun.
